Dear Sibling of a Child with Special Nee

Discrimination is unacceptable

We need to make changes

AWARENESS

The aim of these campaigns is simple; education. People who don’t have a disability or know anyone who is disabled might not be aware of what it is like to live with a disability or the challenges that can be encountered on a daily basis.

Student Life

In most ways students with disabilities are just like other students. They have the same needs and desires. They need to be challenged, to be part of a group, to be accepted, and to succeed. Most students with disabilities wish to be treated as individuals and do not wish to be singled out or stereotyped because of their disabilities.

DISABILITY AWARENESS

In general, try to mention the person first, and then, if necessary, the disability. Think about your language and how it impacts the person to whom you are referring. Does it suggest a victim or an object of sympathy? Does it focus on a person's disability? If either is true, you need to revise your language choice.
